We collect the following information when you use SurvivalIQ:

• Email address — provided during the quiz or signup, used for authentication, account access, and communication
• Quiz responses — your answers to the survival assessment, used to generate your personalized score and recommendations
• Usage data — reading progress, bookmarks, completed articles, page views, device information, and interaction patterns to personalize and improve the Service
• Chat messages — conversations with the AI Advisor, stored to maintain your chat history and improve the Service
• Payment data — processed securely by Paddle; we do not store credit card numbers

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Personalize your experience and deliver relevant content
• Send you quiz results, service updates, educational content, and promotional materials
• Process payments through our payment provider (Paddle)
• Analyze usage patterns and trends to improve the Service
• Enforce our Terms of Service and protect against fraud or misuse

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

3. Email Communication

By providing your email address through our quiz or signup process, you consent to receive:

• Your personalized survival assessment results
• Educational preparedness content, tips, and recommendations
• Service-related announcements, updates, and promotional offers

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. Transactional emails (account access, billing, important service notices) will continue while your account is active.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Supabase with industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit via TLS and row-level security policies. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Paddle — payment processing. See Paddle's Privacy Policy
• Anthropic — AI processing for the Advisor feature
• Vercel — application hosting
• Analytics providers — to understand usage patterns and improve the Service

These third-party services have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for authentication, session management, analytics, and advertising purposes. This may include third-party cookies from analytics and advertising partners. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings, but disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Service.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal and operational requirements)
• Unsubscribe from marketing communications

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the Service, or as required by law. If you request account deletion, personal data will be removed within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or legitimate business purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

SurvivalIQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes take effect upon posting to this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
